How to prepare your photo & signature for GPAT

A photo or signature that does not meet the GPAT specification is one of the most common reasons applications get rejected at the upload stage. Follow these guidelines before you upload, then use the free tools below to resize each file to the exact size the form needs — entirely in your browser.

Photo guidelines

  • Use a recent colour photograph (taken within the last 3–6 months) against a plain white or light background — coloured or patterned backgrounds are commonly rejected by the GPAT portal.
  • Face the camera directly with a neutral expression and both eyes open. Your face should fill about 70–80% of the frame, with the head and top of the shoulders visible.
  • No caps, hats or sunglasses. Spectacles are allowed only if there is no glare and the eyes are clearly visible. Wear formal, decent attire.
  • Use even lighting with no harsh shadows or red-eye. Do not apply filters, beauty effects or heavy editing — the photo must look natural.
  • Save the final image in JPG/JPEG format, under 200KB. Some forms also ask for your name and date printed below the photo.

Signature guidelines

  • Sign on plain white paper using a black or blue pen, then scan or photograph it in good light.
  • Keep your usual running signature inside the box — many forms reject signatures written in BLOCK CAPITALS.
  • Crop tightly around the signature so the background stays white, and save it under 30KB in JPG/JPEG format.
